Five Continued (Vermont)

The weekend after our anniversary we went to Vermont to celebrate.  One of my best friends is from Vermont, and Vermonters are like Texans in that they have a crazy amount of state pride.  I was in love with Vermont before I ever visited, and now I love it even more.

We stayed at the Trapp Family Lodge on Friday and Saturday night.  Yes, that Trapp family.  We brought Jack-Jack with us and he loved the lodge.  There were several great hikes just out our door.  We also played the most scenic game of disc golf.

We happened to be in town at the same time that the dog agility show was in town.  The contest was on the same property as the lodge, so we went and watched it for over an hour.  We concluded that Jack-Jack has the athleticism and intelligence necessary to compete, but he probably lacks the focus and obedience at this point time. 

On Saturday afternoon, we left Jack-Jack behind and went in search of Vermont’s best dairy.  We toured the Ben & Jerry’s factor – an ice cream lover’s dream – and visited the flagship store of Cabot Cheese - a cheese lover's dream.

As if we hadn’t been indulgent enough, we stopped at the Cedar Mill on our way back to the lodge and ate 50 cent apple cider donuts and bought maple sugar.

 

 

Sunday was low-key.  We drove to Sugarbush and appreciated nature from our car due to the rain.  We then worked our way over to Burlington.  We left town on Monday mid-day, but not before eating at American Flatbread, touring the Lake Champlain chocolate factory (our favorite chocolate of all-time), and walking by the actual Lake Champlain.
