Brit Lit and Brit Wit

Yesterday was my first day of Summer Term classes, and with that, my first day back in the always entertaining, never a dull moment British Literature class.

There are many aspects of the class that I enjoy, but it's our professor, Angus Wrenn, who really completes the experience. He's British, in his mid-40's, quite mild mannered, and always looking for the next witticism. Yesterday he was at the top of his game after five weeks off. He made plenty of noteworthy comments, but here's my favorite. After asking if we all enjoyed lovely holidays, etc. etc., he announced:

"Great things have happened in your absence. ::SLIGHT PAUSE:: Madonna quoted Phillip Larken in public."

Probably had to be there to catch the subtleness and you probably have to know Angus to fully appreciate anything he says, but it's just another quotable Wrenn moment that I want to remember and, apparently, share.
